Flying Machine I

I had a bit of luck with this flesh fly today sitting on the strawberry leaves – I was able to get quite close without scaring it off. Must have been the warm sun, it seemed surprisingly docile!

Blimp II

Just to give everyone not familiar with the WDL Blimp a size of proportion: that’s the cabin underneath, which seats one pilot and seven passengers. The blimp itself is 60 meters / 200 feet long and quite an impressive sight when it flies right over you – which it frequently does around here :-).

New Tennants

I’ve seen the nest the week before, but I thought it was an old one from last year… but now it turns out it’s occupied! It’s in a somewhat dangerous place in the ivy opposite our balconies, only about 1.5 meters up. We’ve got a somewhat near line of sight, but I didn’t dare to get any closer from the ground for this photo. Let’s hope that the nest isn’t going to be destroyed by the gardeners… I’ll keep reporting if I can :-).

The Blimp is back in Town

The unmistakable buzz of the blimp engines is one indicator of really good spring weather :-).

Moonstack XXIX

A double moon just to celebrate that we can actually see it! Not perfect photos by any means, but as usual this is astrophotography on a budget with an old bridge camera.
