City Views #99: Post

It’s just Mülheim’s new (as in ‘built in the early 1980s’) postoffice, seen from the exit of the shopping center. The customer entrance is hidden behind the tree in the middle of the square, which is actually a parking lot. It’s such a familiar sight for me that it’s not something special, but when I came across this old photo from September 2003, I thought it looked good in black and white.

Cactus Flower #10

It looks like the Christmas Cactus will live up to its name – the second blossom batch is coming!

Christmas Maple?

This looks more like spring to me, although I took this photo only two days ago – you can even see our christmas tree peeking in from the left! With almost 10°C, it’s unseasonably warm today, but much more grey and rainy than in this photo. White Christmas is unfortunately cancelled this year in our vicinity.

City Views #98: The Tunnel

This is the ramp leading down to the tunnel of the bus station of Mülheim’s central station. I actually called it the post tunnel because it is located right next to the main postoffice, which is just to the left of this photo. The buildings you see in the background are a retirement home complex called the Sonnenhof which was built in the early 1990s together with the pedestrian bridge spanning the Tourainer Ring. On the right is one of the ever-present highrise buildings, and just right behind me is the shopping center. I discovered this shot from May 2003 when I was going through the old photos and loved all the angles and lines in this perspective.
