This part of the Ruhr near Mülheim’s Wasserbahnhof is closed – you can see the red buoys – for traffic because it’s the inlet for the water power station, which is in the far left of this photo. The house in the middle is the Haus Ruhrnatur, a combined natural science museum and cafe that was created in the early 1990s in a former boat house on the Schleuseninsel.

Behind the old water power station at Mülheim’s Wasserbahnhof, you can look all the way down the river to the pedestrian bridge called Florabrücke, which is almost 750 meters away!

On the long side of the old water power station, there’s a path where you walk right above the turbine outlets. Looking to the North you can see all the way over to the Schlossbrücke and even the Stadthalle.
