This year’s only Christmas tree photo comes courtesy of my family here in Berlin as an apology for the missing advent posts this year. There was no Christmas tree in Mülheim again this year except one made out of lights and they did not really want to cooperate.

It’s the first Advent Sunday of 2023 and sadly I have to report that there will be no Christmas tree on my balcony this year anymore. The Christmas tree sellers we got our trees from in the last 25 years lost their place this year and have disappeared and there is no way to easily get a tree anymore in the neighbourhood. This was the sign to give up this old tradition and since I’m not at home during the holidays anyway it was an easy decision. But there are still lights in shape of a tree and a little potted tree around, so it’s not really that sad!

As usual, I’m not in Mülheim right now and again we don’t even have a Christmas tree in Berlin, so I prepared a special shot of the tree at home from December 5 when we actually had a bit of snow – Happy Holidays everyone!

Today’s Christmas Tree photo for the 4th Advent Sunday is from two days ago when I still was in Mülheim and tried out a warmer, glowing look with the fisheye lens.

Even with the energy crisis going on I could not resist putting up a Christmas Tree this year again, which is perhaps the last Christmas holiday tradition left from my childhood.

I’m actually not in Mülheim right now and we don’t even have a Christmas tree in Berlin this year, but this shot from December 18 still looks very nice – happy holidays everyone!
