To the Moon! III

50 years ago today, humans set foot on the Moon for the first time and there are lots of ways to celebrate – among them building Apollo-themed Lego sets! This is not the Apollo Lunar Lander I’m building right now, but the tiny version that came with the Saturn V rocket set.

To the Moon! II

50 years ago today, the first crewed flight to the Moon launched –
this Lego set is a tribute to that mission, but I’ve only built the baseplate yet!

A Lego Mars Christmas

This is a repost from last year, but I just have to show it again because Christmas has always been connected to Lego in my childhood and now we’ve basically come full circle and combined it with space exploration. It’s, of course, my Lego Curiosity Mars Rover with a bit of decoration and appropriate colour timing. It is still the only Lego set I’ve bought as an adult when I got it in early 2014, but due to some rather sad circumstances this year I unearthed all my childhood Lego from the cellar, so there might be more of that coming soon… Let’s also not forget that the original Curiosity is still busy at work more than four years after it had arrived and even though it has a few age-related problems, it’s still doing well!

Christmas on Mars

Another Christmas leftover – I posted this one first in the WSH Crew Google+ Community on Christmas Eve. This is my Lego Curiosity Mars Rover with a bit of decoration and an appropriate colour timing. The original is still busy driving around on Mars and has even taken a Christmas selfie recently!

The Old-Fashioned Way

Something different for the last photo of the day – I found this scan again while looking for something to post. It’s actually a contact print of a negative strip I made in our few attempts to enlarge photos ourselves sometime in 1988. The photos on the film were taken in Berlin’s Technic Museum in 1988 of their collection of history locomotives – and yes, we still have the original negative and it’s already scanned and properly archived! I will post the photos sometime.

Stony Yard

Stones don’t necessarily make a front yard pretty and even this
photo needed a lot of HDR post-processing to look interesting.

I have no idea how I did this, but somehow I like it in an abstract sort of way!
