Winter 2017 #21

A snowy backyard panorama and possibly the last snow photo of the 2016/17 winter.
This photo is from February 11th and nine days later it’s 10°C with constant rain!

River Views #143: Autumn on the Ruhr 33

A ‘Cinemascope’ panorama taken from the West side of Mülheims Ruhr riverfront right next to the old railway bridge, actually showing the whole stretch between the two inner city bridges.

City Views #522: Up the South Hill 8

Here is the first of several panoramas in this sub-series, the intersection of Mülheim’s Kämpchen- and Paul-Essers-Strasse looking to the Southeast. Here you can see the contrast between the older buildings at the left and the highrises on the right, although the angles are slightly exaggerated due to the combination of the panorama stitching and the wide-angle lens. Don’t forget to check out the colour version too, because both buildings have a decidedly blue hue!

Cloudy Rainbow III

A Panorama version of the Rainbow from two days ago. It was too wide to fit in one frame even for the wide-angle lens of my SX1, so a two-frame pano was the only way to capture it all :-).

Backyard 2015 #5

The last backyard panorama was from April 22 and this one from today shows that it only took slightly more than a week for everything to get green again!

Backyard 2015 #3

Not much change here in our backyard in April – the trees are just beginning to sprout and it’s all still pretty bare. But today was a really warm day and we were able to sit on the balcony for the first time. This photo also comes with a little soundtrack – the elusive and almost invisible Chiffchaff (Zilpzalp) arrived recently and has been tweeting his signature tune all the time, which you can distinctly hear in this recording I made a couple of days before I took the photo today.

Backyard 2015 #2

This is the “outtake” from the other panorama I posted recently – I took this on the last day of February and while the sky wasn’t really blue, there were some nice clouds.

Backyard 2015 #1

This year, I’m going to do more of this… backyard panoramas. I found out that I can take a panorama from the balcony with both maple trees in the frame with the new camera, so I’ll try to take one every couple of weeks to show how the trees are getting green. This one is from yesterday.

City Views #378: Panorama 8

The last panorama in this mini-series shows something new for a change – this is the “school district” only one block east of the Kämpchenstrasse. I’ve last been there shortly after the huge summer storm, but I’m happy to report that all of the trees were still standing in November when I took this panorama. The brick building on the far left is actually the police headquarters, the other left one behind the tree is the Otto-Pankok-Gymnasium (grade 5-12) and the Realschule (grade 5-10) is at the right, with its characteristic tower hidden behind the main building – but you can see the statue with the horses I showed in an earlier photo. There’s also an alternative colour version of this photo again.
