This is the last of the Cologne photos – a view from inside the main railway station hall with the iconic 4711 ad in the background, which was unfortunately covered over for some renovation work. I took this photo just seconds before I was going into the train at the right.

No, I have not accidentially snuck in a photo from Berlin in the series – this vintage Berlin S-Bahn train is standing in Cologne’s Technologiepark West of the inner city. In 2004 the wagon was transported from Berlin to Cologne and turned into a small cafe, even sporting the original wooden benches. I still remember riding in one of these when I visited Berlin in the 1980s!

There are still a few Cologne photos left and it’s time I finally post them! This is just an ordinary view from the S-Bahn platform of the railway station, but it looked very interesting in black and white.

Looking from Cologne’s main railway station to the right you can see how close it is to the Hohenzollern bridge over the Rhine – you can even see the observation tower on the other side of the river in this zoom shot.

The Cologne Rhine riverfront north of the Hohenzollern railway bridge – this is actually a zoom shot taken below the left arch of the bridge.

Another view across the Rhine at Cologne’s Hohenzollern railway bridge. No, that’s not the Leaning Tower of Pisa on the other side, it’s just the wide-angle lens of the camera being silly. The building is called KölnTriangle because of its slightly three-sided shape and is open to the public for a great view of Cologne’s inner city (which I unfortunately did not have time for).
