Yesterday’s Moon, taken with my new Canon Powershot SX30. I’ve never been able to get this kind of resolution and detail out of my previous cameras – the combination of 14.1 Megapixels and the 840mm equivalent 35x zoom are really good for this sort of Astrophotography. As usual, I stacked this photo from about 20 single exposures with Registax to get the best quality.

This is not an old house that’s blocking the view of Mülheim’s Petrikirche – you used to be able to see the whole church from this angle, but earlier this year the construction of this house in an already crowded area was finished. There was once a house here, but for the last hundred years there was only a nice green strip with quite a few trees and an unhindred view of the church. Needless to say, this may look fine on a photo but it has been a huge controversy in our city. I really don’t like it because it has changed the appearance of the historic inner that has been remembered in its previous incarnation by at least three generations.

The famous view of Mülheim’s old inner city, slightly marred by an excavator. I’m going to take this shot again with my new camera soon – I hope the construction work is done by now.
