From the newly opened path on the old railway line, you can look back to the railway station platforms – they are so long that you are actually walking in parallel to them for quite a long way!

The new bicycle and pedestrian path going East from Mülheim’s main railway station, running right next to the actual railway track. This used to be an old freight route that splits off from the main track at the station, where it used to go West over the river while the track in use today veers off to the north and crosses the river much later. West of the station the tracks actually run in parallel and that’s why you have trains running right next to you when you walk or cycle along there!

This slightly sorry looking building is actually the back of the big(ish) hall of Mülheim’s main railway station. Before the new path on the old railway line opened, this was all closed to the public.
