A closer look at the new stretch of buildings on the East side of the Ruhr, some of which had only been completed last year. Sadly, the upper part of the riverfront, which used to be a lovely park, has almost been completely paved over with ugly concrete. At least most of the trees are still there.

The last time I saw the Green Woodpecker was on New Year’s Day, but today he was back – digging for ants on the lawn in front of the balconies. He was there for an hour, lunch seem to have been plentiful!

A panorama taken from Mülheim’s old railway bridge to the south, showing the Schloßbrücke in the distance, the new buildings on the former Ruhrpromenade and the city hall tower on the left and the Stadthalle on the right embankment. It looks somewhat drab in the winter without leaves on the trees, next time I’ll be there will probably in the spring when it’s a bit greener!

This is the last Autumn photo I had processed last year – maybe there are a couple more, but for now I think I’ll give the series a rest. This is the curious tree next to the inner city pedestrian bridge that always gets its leaves late and keeps them until late November – this is from November 22!
