Back to the Schlumbergera blossoms from mid-November for a bit!

It wasn’t so easy catching the woodpecker without its head buried in the ground!

This could have been the only snow we get, so I made the most of it and tried to take some nice photos. This shot is a bit fuzzy and grainy because it was still really dark.

A view down Mülheim’s Von-Bock-Strasse. On the right is one of the schools, on the left the police headquarters! The street is named after Karl von Bock und Polach, who was mayor of Mülheim from 1879 to 1899 and was responsible for a lot of city development that is still visible today.

Yesterday someone very colourful showed up on the grass in front of the balconies – a Green Woodpecker busily digging up food! This is one of the few shots when he didn’t have his beak in the earth, but I’ve also got some nice video of this surprising guest.

I woke up sometime in the middle of last night and it was oddly bright outside – it had started snowing! We got maybe one centimeter of snow and it thawed away during the day, but I can’t remember the last time there was even one snowflake at the very beginning of a year. And course I took a couple of photos! This is actually from 4am or so, shot with high ISO, so it looks a little fuzzy.
