City Views #381: Cologne 3

I hadn’t been to Cologne for a long, long time and I was struck be the sheer size of the cathedral. It was impossible to get it all into one picture, so I took some closeups of the towers, which reminded me of giant rockets reaching to the sky.

City Views #380: Cologne 2

The great Cologne Cathedral in a photo I only managed to create five years after I had taken it – it’s a composite of two separate images which I was never able to put together until recently. This is the North side of the cathedral, the first thing you see when you come out of the railway station.

City Views #379: Cologne 1

For the next wave of photos in the City Views series, we’re going to leave my home town again and go south to Cologne, where I was able to take some photos on a short trip back in 2010. This first photo was shot while still in the train arriving at the main railway station, showing the church and the distinct station roof. The photos will revolve mainly around the Cologne Cathedral, or Kölner Dom and the riverbank of the Rhine. They belong to a larger gallery which I have not yet completely reprocessed, so proper colour versions will follow later on a separate occasion.
