The building with the distinct roof on the left is the Rieken-Haus, which was built in 1955 around the same time as the Kaufhof – and it’s not being demolished. But this shot from December 15 might be one of the last photos with the department store and the Rieken-Haus together.

This was the second video I filmed of the swan’s nest – this was on Sunday, April 30, only one day before the nest was suddenly empty and abandoned. I was very lucky to have caught a brief glance of the eggs that time – there were only five left. There’s also the alternative Youtube upload as usual.

I was just here at this corner today, half a year after this photo and there’s already a new foundation in place and a few walls are beginning to appear. At the start of December, there was still a bit left.
