There was heavy machinery at work demolishing Mülheim’s old Kaufhof department store!

This is the second part of the video from the riverfront I shot on January 15 with more honking Geese and other waterbirds. The embedded video is self-hosted, although there’s also a Youtube version.

This wall of the old Kaufhof building was once connected to the car park, which was demolished first. There was quite a lot of graffiti on there…

I completely forgot that I had shot some video back in January and February down at the riverfront as a companion to the photo series – and now with my faster uplink, I’ve finally been able to uploaded them. The left side of the Kaufhof building had already been heavily gutted.

Here you can see the where the Kaufhof car park used to connect to the main building. It looked pretty spectacular and that’s why I took quite a few photos from this side.

On the West side of Mülheim’s Kaufhof, there was already heavily demolition going on. Where those heavy machines are working a whole car park was once standing.

The Kaufhof building had a very distinct front – there once were green plates between the windows, but they had already been removed together with the glass before the demolition began.
