Today, we got hit with a couple of centimeters of snow – not much and it was already thawing by late afternoon, but it snowed a good five or six hours and the results were pretty impressive. Of course I took a whole bunch of photos, which I’m going to post over the course of the next days. Here’s the backyard maple all snowed in, with a side dish of Christmas Tree (which we always leave up until early February just for those snowy occasions!).

Last snow photo, from December 29th… some kids had built snow men sculptures in the backyard! :-)

This was on December 29th, one of the few snow photos that actually turned out well – a long-exposure shot from the middle of the night! Sadly, the snow vanished pretty quickly after that and has not returned yet. Instead we now have heavy storms at temperatures up to 13°C!

The snow-dusted maple tree – this is actually a long-exposure night shot because the snow had already melted from the branches in the morning. On the far left there’s also a bit of balcony with the christmas tree visible – look at the balcony rails for the amount of snow we got, maybe 1-2cm :-).

We had a little bit more snow yesterday night, but it got so warm in the morning that most of it thawed again. I managed to get a few long-exposure shots before it was mostly gone, though – it’s great how much even a bridge camera can pick up at night. This one’s a bit hazy because it was actually snowing heavily when I took it!

The weather report was a little too enthusiastic with yesterday’s prediction – there was only a very light dusting of snow and most of that had melted by evening, but then it got very windy and beastly cold with -5.5°C during the night. This is still a shot from yesterday, of course.

Yes, it’s just the school on the other side of the street, but dusted with a fine layer of snow on the roof – a sight we haven’t had since a long time. Unfortunately there was not so much snow today and now it has stopped snowing, but it was enough to take a few pictures including this one.

It was slightly thawing this afternoon and it stopped snowing now, but the weather forecast promised more is on the way. Glad that we don’t have to go out until Monday!

So, this happened overnight. It’s not quite the snowy winter wonderland yet and more slushy-wet than powdery-dry, but it’s the first snow we had since February 2013! To be continued :-).
