The Squirrel was almost hanging upside down on the bird feeder :-).

We’ve had the squirrels around all Winter, but I haven’t had a chance to take more photos of them. Today one of them checked out the small bird feeder that someone had hung on the trunk of the Maple tree in front of our balconies – and spent quite some time there raiding the bird food! Only a few shots turned out well because the lighting wasn’t ideal and the autofocus was being difficult, but I think this might not be the last time the squirrels have done this – they’ve even been on the balconies a lot!

This is the last of the animal-related albums from last year and the Squirrel Gallery of 2015 has only eight photos, but they were such a huge surprise! In all the decades we’ve been living here we never had a single squirrel in the backyard and 2015 was the first time they showed up and in November even climbed the balconies. SQUIRRELS 2015

The second of the two photos I was able to take before the squirrel scampered off again :-).

It was only a matter of time until the squirrels conquered the balconies. I only wanted to take some bird photos, but then this cutie suddenly showed up and I even managed to get two decent shots of it.

I caught one of the squirrels on camera today again and this time I recorded in HD! It’s a little bit shaky and I had to downsize to 720p, but it still looks pretty good. The squirrel was looking for food on the lawn – and it found a lot!

We had noticed the Squirrels in the backyard before in the last few months, running over the roofs and jumping in the trees, but today I was able to finally capture one of them with the camera. It was gray, dark and rainy and the shots didn’t turn out very sharp, but it was foraging for food right in front of the balcony before it disappeard in the bushes. We have never had Squirrels before in the backyard and we’re thrilled to finally have them here, especially the rarer red ones!
