They came visiting last Friday evening, first landing on the roof of the garage in our “backyard and then slowly waddled over the big lawn out of sight. Those mallards come here sometimes – after all, it’s only about 1km west to the river and 750 meters southeast there’s a pond, as the crow (or duck) flies.

This fellow was cruising high up in the air – but it was so big that I was able to pick up some details even with my camera. I’m not sure what this one is exactly, but it could be a heron / Graureiher!

Actually only one of the many swifts / Mauersegler who are doing almost daily aerobatics over us. It`s fun to watch them race around, but they’re difficult to photograph. This is about the only halfway decent photo I’ve been able to get.

Another futile attempt to get a trail of the ATV-4 Albert Einstein space transporter. I saw it, but my camera doesn’t seem to like it and just exposed 15 seconds instead of 64 and didn’t even save a RAW – I think there’s a bug in CHDK somewhere. But with a little bit of filtering I was able to at least somewhat bring the trail out. Maybe I’ll get lucky tonight when if the weather holds…

The “I need a new tripod” capture of yesterday evening’s ISS flyover. I thought the camera was steady, but in spite of the slightly wobbly trail it’s a nice photo with the station vanishing in the clouds.
