City Views #25: Hertie & Highrises

After yesterday’s post of the Forum building I remembered that I had recently seen an old photo from the days when it was still the Hertie department store. This is scanned from a colour transparency converted to black-and-white and was only a throwaway shot to get a roll of film full, but now it’s history: the film has no date, but I think this photo was taken in early 1990. Two of the highrises are visible together with the Hertie building, whose hexagonal structure is better visible from this side. The long passage in the lower part of the photo is the connection between the shopping center and the railway station and also doubles as the subway station. The parking lot is still there today and everything looks not much different except from the Hertie building.
