City Views #60: Odds’n’Ends I

Before I embark on another series, the next few City Views photos will be some isolated ones that do not fit anywhere particular – like this view of the Schollenstraße, a short street right between the old Kaufhof building on the right and the city hall on the left. It looks a bit different there today, because the bus and tram stop has now been moved in front of the now abandoned Kaufhof – but I won’t even begin to tell the story of that, because you could fill books with it!

City Views #59: Railway Bridge VIII

One more from the archives – a view up the river in direction of Mülheim’s railway bridge, but this time in January 1963. The crowd of chimneys in the background is unbelievable, no wonder they called it the Kohlenpott in these days! The vegetation was also much more sparse than it is today, even in winter it doesn’t look this bare nowadays.
