Spring Tree

It’s getting crowded in cactus flower country and it’s hard to choose what to photograph first! What I’m posting at the moment is just a daily “best of” shot, when the whole season is over I’m going through the photos again and post a whole gallery with all the leftovers.

Another one of these monsters on top of some entrances in the block of houses where we live. I like this one – it seems to be a fire-breathing dragon! I’ll see if I can take some more photos of the other “monsters” soon.

With a small airport in the southeast of the city, we always have a lot of Cessnas and Pipers flying overhead, but this one is still something out of the ordinary: it’s an old Piper Super Cub, one of the most basic planes ever built. I had seen one last spring, but according to the registration, this is a different one belonging to our local flight company WDL which also flies the famous blimp.

Look at what came up in one of the balcony flowerboxes! It wasn’t really sunny today, but we still decided to open the balcony season early. March 7th, spring is here… I hope this is not too premature!

Every other house on the block where we live has these strange statues over the entrances. We have no idea why these are here or what they do represent, but they are the only decorations on the otherwise rather rectangular buildings. Our house actually just has two nondescript horizontal stone slabs. I really should go around the block and take a photo of each of these statues!
