City Views #152: The Old Factory

This is an old factory building right near the streetcorner which I shared two days ago. I don’t know too much about the history of this building, but it’s part of a longer complex of old factory halls along the Gerberstraße – which means literally tanner’s street – there used to be a lot of leather industry in Mülheim! Today these buildings are mostly converted into flats and offices, some have even been empty for decades.

Cactusflower 2014 #20

Completely forgot to post a cactus flower yesterday – I had a photo ready, but then I somehow forgot it. But here’s a better shot from this afternoon, with the help of some sunlight again!

Spring Migration #4

This is as close as I can get with my camera – I think these can only be cranes.

And the final one of the Pieris variant, which is probably called Schattenglöckchen (Shadow Bell) in German.

Springflowers #34

I’m going to post two springflowers per day from now on because the photos are starting to pile up! Thanks to a fellow photographer over on Google+, this is no longer unidentified – it’s probably a Pieris Japonica, or at least one of the many Pieris variants. These are even growing over in California!

CIty Views #151: On Another Corner

I took this photo just this afternoon as a follow-up to yesterday’s street corner photo. I actually posted a photo of the right side of this building not long ago, but here’s another one with the “corner view”. This house was built in 1906, and the proof is in the picture: look for the year on the left side of the building between the first and second floor windows! This building is at the crossroads of Mülheim’s Kämpchen- and Paul-Essers-Straße, you can see it clearly from above on Google Maps here.

There seemed to be order in chaos, these cranes have a mission!

Tree Panorama

How can you make a panorama of a tree? Well, a panorama doesn’t have to be horizontal, you can always make it vertical – I’ve tried this before, but I like this one from mid-February because of the blue sky!

City Views #150: On the Corner

I tried to find something very special for the 150th photo in the City Views series, but I don’t have anything really iconic from Mülheim handy right now – so here’s just a typical street corner from our neighbourhood.
