I heard him before I saw him – the Woodpecker was working industriously on the Maple tree trunk! It looks like he’s been doing it for a while because there’s old tree bark all around the trunk on the lawn! :-)

Another double feature… in the making!

One of the few photos I’ve got in the archives from Mülheim’s Wilhelmstrasse, which leads right down to the riverfront. This is one of the villa-esque houses at the intersection with the Friederichstrasse.

Double feature!

An old photo from 2004 of the intersection of Mülheim’s Friederichstrasse and Wilhelmstrasse, which is only about 200 meters away from the riverfront. There are some interesting old houses in the vicinity, but for some reason I’ve only taken very few photos there – this is one of them.

More Daffodils from Leap Day :-).

This building does not exist anymore – it was Mülheim’s Jugendmusikschule, the Youth Music School located right down at the riverfront. It was not a particularly nice building, a very stuffy and uncomfortable 1950s affair that left an often intimidating impression on the children who had music lessons there – including myself, but thanks to a good teacher I actually had a good time there! I’m not sad to see this building go, but I haven’t actually seen the replacement yet. The music school has meanwhile moved from this nice location to a completely other part of the city.
