City Views #900: Around the Churches VIII

Looking down to the archway of Mülheim’s Mausefalle from above,
an angle I’ve never taken a photo from before!

City Views #898: Around the Churches VI

Mülheim’s Mausefalle, or specifically the old timer-frame house next
to the archway, from an angle I’ve never take a photo of before.

City Views #897: Around the Churches V

This is the rear of the new houses built in a retro style on Mülheim’s Kirchenhügel. For more than 80 years, there were only some nice trees there, but then someone from the city government decided to rebuild the houses that had been there until the 1920s. This makes the area very cramped again and sadly it’s impossible to see the Mausefalle from in front of the Church where I’m standing here now.

City Views #896: Around the Churches IV

This is the statue of Hieronymus Jobs, a fictional character from a satirical poem of Carl Arnold Kortum, who was born in 1745 here in Mülheim. This statue has been standing in various locations in the historic inner city and now has its permanent home in front of the Petrikirche.

City Views #895: Around the Churches III

Looking into the other direction on Mülheim’s Kirchenhügel, you see the boxy and surprisingly more modern looking Catholic Church St. Mariae Geburt that was built in 1929.

A closer look at Mülheim’s Petrikirche – standing right in front of it, it’s difficult to get it all in one picture!

City Views #893: Around the Churches I

I’m out of riverside shots for this year, but I’ve first got a few black and white shots from Mülheim’s Kirchenhügel – I posted some from last winter, but these were taken with the bigger Sony camera and have some interesting alternate angles. I’ve also processed colour versions of each shot which are available on the link below the posts.

River Views #309: Southwards in Motion

While walking from the Schloßbrücke to the Wasserbahnhof back in September, I also shot a little bit of video, which I didn’t even want to post at first because it turned out a bit shaky. I’m not really used to shoot video with the heavy Sony camera, but I edited the footage a little bit and it was too good to just throw away. So here it is, with apologies for the camera noises and the occasional slight wobble.

River Views #308: Southwards 54

Back on the “mainland” next to Mülheim’s Wasserbahnhof is the Cafe Plati right next to the river.
