Between the two lanes of Mülheim’s Kaiserstrasse are the rails of the tramway, which comes through there at least every ten minutes in peak times. The tram has its own path on the upper part of the street, but further down cars and trams have to partly share the street, which not always really works. The future of the tramway here in Mülheim is, however, uncertain – the city is hard at work closing down some or even all lines for cost-cutting reasons, but the country government is against it because it had heavily subsidized the development of the tramway net. But that’s a very long and complicated story – too long for a photo description.

An admittedly not very exciting view up Mülheim’s Kaiserstrasse – there’s not anything particularly remarkable in this photo, except maybe that the street looks terribly patched up at this point. And again I seem to have unconsciously waited for traffic to clear the road, because it looks unusually quiet!

This is not really sharp and it’s heavily filtered because of all the digital noise, but I went with the “painted” look because I just like this photo too much to throw it away.
