Now that we’ve been up Mülheim’s Kaiserstrasse there’s still the Kaiserplatz to look at. Before we look closer at the intersection joining four of the city’s busiest streets, here’s another look up the Kaiserstrasse from the crossing itself. It’s an older photo from May 2004, but it looks still the same today – a typical Mülheim inner city street scene.

Almost at the top of Mülheim’s Kaiserstrasse, you can see a strange looking building between the houses on the west side. It’s in fact the gym hall of the Mülheimer Turngemeinde 1856 e.V – a gymnastics club which was supposedly founded 157 years ago, but this building is, of course, much newer. I’ve always found it rather amusing that there’s also a restaurant named Zum Turnverein in the same building – presumably to replenish the fat you’ve burned off previously in the gym! :-)
