Little Brown Something

I noticed a little brown fuzzball hopping around the balcony today – it was not easy to get a decent photo of it because it was so fast. But at least we identified it as an Eurasian Wren, which we call Zaunkönig (Fence King) here in Germany. I also recorded a little birdsong today which I wasn’t able to identify yet – does anyone know what kind of birds are talking in this question-and-answer dialogue with each other?
[Update: the consensus on Google+ seems to be that the great tits are making these sounds!]

Springflowers #21

I love this deliciously wild front yard with all the crocuses and snowdrops coming up!

City Views #138: That other School

While we’re talking about schools – this is the other building on the same schoolyard as the Eduardschule which used to be the separate school Muhrenkampschule until it was merged with its bigger neighbour about a decade ago. This is a black and white version of a colour photo I had originally posted last March.

Springflowers #20

A quick process of some front yard crocuses. More springflowers are on the way, despite the unfortunate demise of my graphics card – I will soldier on with only one monitor until the replacement arrives! :-)

Shadow of a Tree, Early 2014 Edition

I’m usually only able to take this shot of the maple tree shadow on the big backyard lawn in late March or early April, but this year it’s really early thanks to the nice spring weather today.

City Views #137: That School again

Yes, it’s the old school across the street. This is actually one of the most ordinary views for us, down the street from the kitchen window and for this reason I don’t take many photos of it anymore. This one is from last November and is more an excercise how to make something out of a dreadful-looking original.

The Magpie Tree

When I took this photo, I thought it was a blackbird sitting there,
but on closer inspection it seems to be a magpie.
