City Views #157: The Door in the Wall

The northern end of Mülheim’s Eduardstrasse is just this, a slightly crumbling old wall with a ten or even more meter drop on the other side down to the Dickswall, where you can see a huge gap between the houses. Today, there’s just a parking lot on the other side, but once there must have stood a house – because there are remnants of a doorway or a window and even some cellar windows in this wall, which you can see in this photo. Today, there’s barbed wire on top of the wall, to prevent kids climbing on it – the top of the wall is quite wide, but the drop on the other side extremely dangerous.

Springflowers #043

The only magnolia bush in the inner city is coming along fine too. But it might be its last year blooming, because the building it is standing directly in front of is supposed to be demolished later this year and the magnolia might be in the way. Knowing this city, the magnolias will probably just be cut down.
