Cactus Flower 2014-II #2


One of the< em>Schlumbergera cactus flower buds from above – there are a lot of them this time again, but I’m not sure which one will open first. This one seems to be a good candidate, though!

A Junkers Autumn


For the second time this October, our tiny local airport got a visit from one of the few surviving flyable Junkers JU-52. This one belongs to the Lufthansa Berlin Foundation and is the oldest surviving airworthy JU-52 – it was built in 1936 and soon will be 80 years old! One thing I noticed today that the Lufthansa pilots start much lower than those of the Swiss JU-52, so I got a pretty close look!

City Views #251: Inner City Demolition 4


On December 13th, there was already a huge gap where most of the old bank building used to be, but there was still the whole corner to be torn down, something which proved to be much more difficult and precarious. This is a slightly blurry evening shot, but in the background you can see the city hall tower – a sight which is normally impossible from this perspective.
