A closeup of the demolition work on Mülheim’s Viktoriaplatz on December 29th, 2007 – the last building had to be very carefully dismantled. At the lower right of the photo you can see a mother holding up her child to watch the demolition work :-).

This is slightly more blurry that I had hoped, but yesterday this lovely old Piper Super Cub flew almost directly over my head when I was sitting on the balcony. I have seen and photographed this particular plane once before in early March – it apparently belongs to WDL Aviation, the company that also operates the famous blimp, which is being rebuilt for next year after it was destroyed by the heavy storm in June.

I also took a few panoramas during the demolition to show the huge gap between the houses. This one is from December 29th 2007, more than two weeks after the last photo – you can see that they had worked hard over the Christmas holidays and the last building on the right was already partly torn down. But here the trouble had not even started yet. To be continued…
