City Views #263: Inner City Demolition 16
A wide shot of the curious situation during the demolition work in Mülheim’s Viktoriaplatz in the early evening of January 10th, 2008. The excavator was clamping down on the piece of wall that was threatening to fall on the adjacent house. The street was already fenced off and a few spectators were around, the fire department was also at the scene. The next-door house was actually hastily evacuated, and for some time nobody really knew what to do. The chunk was eventually safely pulled back from the other house, but it was still a very close call. This photo is a bit grainy because it was already quite dark – I opted not to filter it to preserve more detail.
