The Age of Snow IV

We had a little bit more snow yesterday night, but it got so warm in the morning that most of it thawed again. I managed to get a few long-exposure shots before it was mostly gone, though – it’s great how much even a bridge camera can pick up at night. This one’s a bit hazy because it was actually snowing heavily when I took it!

Moonstack #52

This could possibly be my last moon photo of the year, depending on how the weather plays along tomorrow… but given that it wasn’t completely dark yet, this is a surprisingly good try. Stacked from 20 images with RegiStax as usual, with a little bit of wavelet sharpening and a high-pass filter applied, although this time, I left the brightness and contrast like they came out of the camera.

Cactusflower 2014-II #51

Let’s call this the final Cactus Flower photo of the year, because the final blossom of the last batch is closing today – this photo is from yesterday and I thought it would be great to close with a different look. But as I said before, there are a couple of additional photos I have not posted in the Gallery and the Google+ album, although I may show some of these at a later time separately.

The Age of Snow III

The weather report was a little too enthusiastic with yesterday’s prediction – there was only a very light dusting of snow and most of that had melted by evening, but then it got very windy and beastly cold with -5.5°C during the night. This is still a shot from yesterday, of course.

City Views Snow Special: That School again

Yes, it’s just the school on the other side of the street, but dusted with a fine layer of snow on the roof – a sight we haven’t had since a long time. Unfortunately there was not so much snow today and now it has stopped snowing, but it was enough to take a few pictures including this one.

The third Amaryllis, with a stem only half as high as the others, but looking even more interesting.

Cactusflower 2014-II #50

Another cactusflower from yesterday – only one of them is still in full bloom. I think I will post the last photo of the series tomorrow and then take a break – the unposted ones I’ll show later sometime!
