City Views Christmas Special: Mülheim Kirchenhügel 1962

Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas, everyone – Like every year, I have to post this very special photo from our archives on Christmas Eve that has been used as a Christmas card lots of times in our family. It was originally taken by my mother Angela in 1962 on Mülheim’s Kirchenhügel, the historic church district in the inner city. She won a photography contest with it and today it is of real historical significance because this photo cannot be taken from this perspective anymore, although most of the houses still exist. There are many copies and prints of this photo, but a couple of years ago I found the original again and carefully scanned and restored it – we’re posting it every year now and it’s also a tribute to my mother, who sadly passed away four years ago.

City Views on Tour Special: Deutsches Technikmuseum 2

The entrance to Berlin’s Deutsches Technikmuseum, which used to be named Museum für Verkehr und Technik before the big expansion that started in 1999. The entrance is not actually under the Rosinenbomber of the new building but somewhat unconspicuously on the side at the Trebbiner Strasse 9 around the corner.
