Autumn is almost over and most of the leaves are down – time to post at least some Autumn Colours!

I actually did some tree photography this summer and autumn, but for some reason I got so behind with processing that I didn’t post as much of it as I wanted. But here’s a photo of our favourite maple tree from below that I just took this afternoon!

The Rowan in front of our Kitchen windows has a lot to offer this year for the Birds :-).

It’s Tree Tuesday over on Google+ and I always like to post something tree-ish for this occasion. This is, of course, our favourite tree of them all, the big Maple standing right in front of our balconies. This photo is about one month old and was taken a week after the big storm – as you can see the tree got through absolutely fine with hardly a broken branch at all!

All day it was grey and gloomy, and just before the sun goes down, we get this… :-).

This is the maple tree in front of our balconies and although this photo is from April 30th, I can assure you that the tree is fine and has sustained absolutely no damage in last week’s heavy storm.

Yesterday, I took a short detour to the two schools in our neighbourhood while I was in the vicinty collecting a parcel. There’s a parking lot with two huge old trees and one of them was hit so hard by Monday’s storm that the whole area is still cordoned off, as you can see here in this photo. I wonder if the left tree will be left standing, the right one still looks okay considering the circumstances. There are a lot of other heavily damaged and completely downed trees near there, including one of the last two japanese cherry blossoms. The rule, unfortunately, seems to be the higher you go and the more open the area the more damage the storm did.

The damage from Monday’s storm on the supermarket parking lot only about 400 meters away from where we live. All trees are actually still standing, but there were many branches broken off like on this tree which looked the worst. Only one tree near the lot entrance is completely down, it looks like it snapped at the trunk and was already sawn into pieces. But most of the street trees in the neighbourhood are fine except some minor broken off branches – which shows how well they are protected by the houses.

The wood pigeons are not camera shy at all :-).
