City Views #5: Petrikirche

The front view of the Petrikirche, the evangelical church in the old inner city of Mülheim. There has always been a church on this spot, but its present incarnation was built from 1870-72. It was bombed out in WWII, the top of the tower as it appears today was rebuilt in 1957. There are actually a few early photos in our archives (which I’m going to post someday) that show the church without its tower and the rebuilding in progress.

The Kite

This microlite glider, looking like a boxkite with a motor, buzzed directly over us yesterday.

City Views #4 – The Mousetrap IV

This is the somewhat iconic view of the Mousetrap / Mausefalle with its adjoining buildings, the church is just to the right. The house itself is called Mausefalle and was built in 1655, but I’m not sure about its history – I only know that it has been inhabited by a restaurant for a long time and may have always been an inn.

Blooming Egg

The flower of an eggplant – a curious name, it’s just called an Aubergine in German!

City Views #3: The Mousetrap III

This is what you see when you look up standing between the two arches
of the Mousetrap: the tower of the neighbouring Petrikirche.
