City Views #30: Central Station

This is the view just left from the previous entry of the City Views series, looking down from the railway platform at the old central station building. This photo was taken in 2004, today it again looks a bit different because the station has been finally renovated. Before 1974, the Hauptbahnhof was originally called Mülheim Eppinghofen after the part of the city it is located in, while the former central station, today only a small stop called Mülheim West was one stop to the west, giving the steel industry factories access to the railway. The two big buildings behind the second, abandoned railway line were only built in 1992, one of them belongs to the software company whose name you can see on top and the other one is occupied by some city administration offices. In the background, you once again can see one of the highrises.

Cucumber Heaven #1

And the cucumbers are also growing like mad. Only a few days ago we discovered a 450g, 25cm heavyweight which was hidden among the leaves of one plant, but this one is of course a bit smaller – but not less tasty! It has a fierce defence, it’s rather prickly and definitively needs a shave before eating :-).
