This building complex on the right has only been constructed in the early 1990s and is one of the newest buildings in the inner city. It’s a retirement home called Sommerhof (that’s what the sign says), but I think it takes a special case of sarcasm to build something like this that close to a major railway line.

Even the Malvas were still blossoming at the end of October! It was Winter Solstice yesterday and finally the days are getting longer again – and I still have about 30 Balcony Flowers shots left, which will last about two weeks until early January if I post two each day as usual. After that I’m not going to take a complete break, but I might just post only one or two photos each day and during the holidays maybe a couple of albums with all those photos from this year which I finally managed to sort out recently.

A look back to the railway bridge over Mülheim’s Tourainer Ring just East of the main railway station. There’s an ICE train going over it here and you can see how low the bridge actually is – fortunately the trains can’t drive very fast at this point because of a huge curve in the route. It’s still a lot of noise if a train comes through and you are actually under the bridge!
