Balcony Flowers 2015 #650

Here’s something from deep out of the archives: I remembered that I had taken a few photos of the demolition of the old malt factory all the way back in 1990, and I actually found them. This building was located right at the west end of Mülheim’s Hingberg next to the railway line. Some older more historic parts of the factory further east have been preserved, but this highrise constructed in the 1950s or 1960s was torn down in 1990 to make way for the retirement home I mentioned a couple of posts ago. These photos were taken from the pedestrian bridge, which had already been built at this point. Be sure to check out the colour version below since I only converted it for this series to monochrome!

I didn’t really expect to take any photos of airplanes this year anymore, but I was trying to take some bird shots on the 24th when this grey and blue bird flew over! I forgot to look it up on Flightradar24, but from the colours it seems to be a jet from TUIFly in a new livery introduced only last year. It’s a definitive improvement, because originally their planes sported a garish yellow with blazing red writing!

I have shown a similar shot before, but this is the first I’ve taken with the Powershot SX1 – it’s the old house down on Mülheim’s Dickswall with the houses up on the Muhrenkamp above in the background. The height difference is considerable between the two streets at this location and if I had a way of going up that wall I could be right at the end of the street where we live and be home in a couple of minutes – but I have to go the long way around! But I don’t actually walk along there very often and the way from the inner city actually does have a shortcut with a pedestrian bridge only a bit to the West.

Another Christmas leftover – I posted this one first in the WSH Crew Google+ Community on Christmas Eve. This is my Lego Curiosity Mars Rover with a bit of decoration and an appropriate colour timing. The original is still busy driving around on Mars and has even taken a Christmas selfie recently!

Now that we’re between Christmas and New Year, I’ll continue with the rest of the Balcony Flowers.
Here are some fresh Geranium blossoms from November 1! :-)

We wouldn’t have thought it would be possible from the weather forecast alone,
but here’s another Christmas Moon from this evening.
