Balcony Flowers #32

Daffodil sideview with some maple bokeh in the background. The photos I’m posting of the balcony flowers are actually about two weeks old and the daffodils have long since withered, but I’m going to continue posting them in sequence to always have something colourful here.

ISS Archive 2013 for Yuri’s Night

A little basic astrophotography for Yuri’s Night – I’ve now uploaded all my ISS shots from 2013 to a dedicated gallery. The above photo is only one of the twelve and maybe not technically perfect, but still my favourite one because the space station was relatively low on the horizon and you can actually see a little curve in the long exposure. Let’s see what 2014 brings – hopefully clear skies!

River Views #8: Water Inhabitants V

Mr. Mallard would like you to know that I was standing in his way, but actually he waddled quite happily around me when he determined that I didn’t have anything to eat for him. We never feed the ducks around here because they actually have enough natural food and feeding them white bread like many people do is not a good idea because they can’t digest it very well. Besides, this duck looks fat and healthy enough already :-).

River Views #7: Water Inhabitants IV

I’m now going back five years to May 2009, when I shot a series of photos on the steps right beside Mülheim’s Stadthalle which I showed in an earlier photo of the River Views series from the other side. I was literally walking among the Ducks, Geese and, in this case, Coots. This one was perfectly showing off its amazing feet, which are, unusally for a water bird, not completely webbed. More photos are coming in the next days from this series and I’m going to post all the earlier photos from last Wednesday as a gallery sometime on this weekend.

Galileo was Right II

The only other shot that really worked out when I was playing around with the Galileo thermometer. Most of the bulbs actually have lost their colour, you can still see some of the pigments in the blue one!
