A macro shot from one of yesterday’s mystery flowers. Looks big, but it’s actually quite tiny :-).

This photo of Mülheim’s Stadthalle will be the start of a new series I’ve wanted to do for a long time as a companion to the City Views – I’ll just call it River Views because our town is not called Mülheim an der Ruhr for nothing. The river Ruhr flows right through it and we have a huge and amazing riverfront just a short walk from where we live. On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to take a short walk there and take some photos, something which I haven’t done in a long time. I will post some selected images from the complete gallery in the River Views series and then I’ll upload the whole gallery – I’m also going to do this with older reprocessed photos, because I have a lot of these in the archives. There will be river landscapes, some architecture and quite a few ducks, geese and other river inhabitants – most of the older photos are already up somewhere on the website, but I will only post better reprocessed versions. And to set the series apart from the City Views, it will be in colour, often even in HDR like this one!

Apart from the Mallard Ducks, Swans and Canada Geese the Eurasian Coots have become pratically permanent residents at the river here in our city. This one was chugging by so fast that I only had the chance to take five decent pictures before it was too far away!

It turns out that there is in fact a way to get a clean shot of that building with the nice tower on the corner of Mülheim’s Kaiserplatz. I walked by there today and I found a gap in the trees right in front of it – thanks to the wide-angle lens of my camera it fit right in.
