City Views #199: Pflasterstrand II


This is where Mülheim’s Kurt-Schumacher-Platz, more commonly called Pflasterstrand, ends and merges into the Schloßstraße pedestrian zone. Once it was the greatest shopping mile of the city, today it’s nearly dead with only few shops remaining, the result of a decade of misguided city planning. Nevertheless, this is still a sort of iconic view instantly recognizable for everyone living in the area.

The Survivor


This is the maple tree in front of our balconies and although this photo is from April 30th, I can assure you that the tree is fine and has sustained absolutely no damage in last week’s heavy storm.
